Jonathan and Cathie chose Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Canada as one of the beneficiaries of the Canadian portion of the tour for three reasons.

1. Personal Experience:
Jonathan and Cathie Weaver chose Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Canada (RMHC®) because of the personal experience of a friend whose family benefited from the Toronto Ronald McDonald House® during their child’s treatment for Leukemia.

Ryan’s family stayed at Ronald McDonald House during his initial treatments that put his cancer into remission.

When the cancer returned, requiring Ryan to return to Sick Kids for more treatment, the Ronald McDonald House was full, putting the financial burden of accommodations, take out meals and travel on the family.

Unfortunately, Ryan lost his battle with Leukemia at 22 months. Ryan’s Parents created the Northern Corridor Children’s fund to help Parents with children who suffer life threatening ailments.

Jonathan and Cathie want to raise money for  Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Canada(RMHC®) during the Canadian leg of the tour and the local participating Ronald McDonald Houses in the US duing the US leg of the tour so that these organizations can help more kids and support more families in their time of need.

2. 100% of administrative and operating expenses of RMHC of Canada are paid by McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited so all money donated goes to the charity's good work. More About RMHC.

3. Since its inception in 1982, RMHC of Canada has awarded more than $47 million in grants to the 12 Ronald McDonald Houses, the Ronald McDonald Family Room tm program and to many children’s charities across Canada.  This support has benefited thousands of children and families in more than 600 communities.
